Foreigners / Illegal Aliens
An illegal alien is a person living in a country other than the one of their birth, and is living there without having obtained permission from the government. And no where does the Bible address this issue. What it does address though, is how aliens ( known as sojourners and strangers) that are given permission from the government are to act in their new society. God instructed aliens to follow all the laws of the new land, or they where not allowed to stay. They were also subject to the same penalties for disobedience as those born in the land.
Exodus 12:49 "One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you."
Exodus 22:21 "Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt."
Leviticus 18:26 " Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:"
Leviticus 24:22 " Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God."
Numbers 9:14 " And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the LORD; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land."
Numbers 15:15-16 " One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the LORD. One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you."
Numbers 15:29 " Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them."
Foreigners are not to be mistreated.
Exodus 23:9 "Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt."
Leviticus 19:33-35 "And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure."
They are to be loved as human beings.
Deuteronomy 10:19 "Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt."
Notice the curse that will come upon Nations that disobey the word of God:
Deuteronomy 28:36-45"The king you set over yourselves will be unknown to you or your ancestors...You will become an object of ridicule among all nations.... The foreigners who reside among you will rise above you higher and higher, but you will sink lower and lower... All these curses will come on you.... until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the LORD your God and observe the commands and decrees he gave you."
Aliens will be used to destroy those nations from within.
The bottom line here is, that they are NOT following the laws of the land if they are here illegally, and as such should not be allowed to stay.
